WHAT IS LATTE ART?
The popularity of a barista is determined by the success of artistic presentations such as latte art as well as the flavor of the coffees he makes. This is precisely what makes Latte Art so important. Its interesting appearance has made it the most sought-after coffee variety in coffee shops and social media. So it is one of the indispensable skills for a Barista who wants to climb the stairs of success.
Latte Art is the art of creating aesthetic shapes on the espresso surface using milk cream. Espresso and creamed milk are required to make Latte Art. The difference in density between espresso and cream ensures that the cream stays on top and allows drawing.
How to Make Latte Art?
Espresso and milk, which are the two main ingredients of latte, must be prepared correctly for a successful Latte Art production. To achieve this, there are some important points to be considered. So, what are the things we need to know in order to make espresso and milk in the right consistency?
Correct preparation of Espresso: Espresso must be dense in order for the milk cream to hold on to the surface. Espresso will be more fluid and sparse if the coffee grains are not compressed correctly during the production process. As a result, the added milk mixes directly into the coffee and it is not possible for us to make Art. That is why it is very important to make Espresso correctly.
To test the consistency of Espresso, you can add very little granulated sugar on it, if the particles settle to the bottom immediately, it means the Espresso has been made wrong. If the particles settle down slowly after holding on to the surface for a short time, you are on the right track.
Correct preparation of milk: The milk prepared for Latte Art production is covered with foam, as in Capuccino, which prevents aftertaste. Therefore, we should obtain a milk that consists of microparticles, does not contain bubbles and is not very solid. The foamy and solid nature of milk not only prevents easy drawing, but also causes the shape to disappear after a while. Even if no art is made under normal conditions, the latte cream should be bubble-free.
After preparing espresso and milk correctly, you can start making Latte art.
-Take the pitcher. If there are bubbles on the milk, you can burst it by hitting the counter once or twice.
-Get the Espresso filled cup in your other hand. In order for the cream to stay on top, you need to hold Espresso with a slight slope.
-First pour the milk over 10 inches of Espresso, filling half the cup. Then gently drain the milk in the middle of the cup by bringing the pitcher closer to Espresso. Meanwhile, a round layer will form in the middle, when this layer comes to enough size, you can slowly drive the pitcher forward to form a heart shape.
Which Shapes Can Be Made With Latte Art
The heart shape is the most common Latte Art figure. Natural figures such as swans and leaves are often preferred by latte artists. Apart from these, you can reflect the figure you want to the latte according to your talent and imagination.
