ETHIOPIA & KENYA

ETHIOPIA
Mixed varieties from Ethiopia create the unique flavor potential of this coffee. They are famous for their unusually distinctive and elegant plant and citrus notes.
Although Ethiopia is often considered the birthplace of Arabica coffee, recent research shows South Sudan for this title. There are not many coffee farms in Ethiopia. These areas are more commonly referred to as gardens, forests, semi-forests or vineyards, but more than 15 million people are involved in the coffee production process, from harvesting to export. Coffee is grown wild.
Ethiopia has a biodiversity not found elsewhere, and many more species await description. The size and shape of coffee beans from Ethiopia often vary, as many different species are grown.
Climate change eliminates wild species with genetic keys needed for coffee survival. Local species need to be protected in order for coffee to survive worldwide.

KENYA
Kenya offers some of the most intensely aromatic and brightly acidic coffees in the world. Although the flavor varies between regions, it mostly features complex fruit and berry notes, citrus acidity and a rich texture.
There are approximately 330 farms in Kenya. Just over half of the coffee producers own only a very small amount of land. These small farms are owned by factories belonging to cooperative societies. These factories collect coffee from many different producers.
