Coffee; It is a tropical plant with more than 70 species of African origin, located in the Rubiacea Family.
He was taken from Ethiopia to Arabia. From here he was taken to Europe and then to England. It reached America in 1607. Coffee plants were planted in Brazil in 1727 and in the early 1900s Brazil made 97% of the world coffee production.
Today, 70% of the world production in the area of approximately 10.3 million hectares is Arabica, 30% of the Robusta type and 25 million families around the world make a living from growing coffee.
The most produced species in the world are Arabica species. While Robusta production is mainly in Africa and South Asia, Arabica production is produced in all countries which producing coffee, especially in South America.

Arabica coffee trees;
• It is generally grown at 2.000 to 800 meters above ground level.
• The Arabica tree with standard features gives 5 kg of fruit per year and approximately 1 kg of seeds are obtained from these 5 kg of fruit.
• Coffee from the Arabica beans contains less caffeine than the ones from the Robusta beans, but is more aromatic and delicious.
• Arabica trees are more delicate than Robusta trees.
• More difficult and costly to grow in terms of the climate features it needs. It is more susceptible to agricultural diseases and is easily influenced by agricultural harmful.
• The caffeine content of the Arabica bean is around 1-2%.
• Less acidic compared to Robusta, high aroma and more enjoyable to drink. Due to these features, we can say that the best coffee bean is Arabica.
Robusta coffee trees;
• Generally, it can be grown from ground level up to 600 meters altitude.
• They are not as delicate as Arabica trees.
• The climatic features it needs are similar to Arabica, but it can show endurance and resistance in case of deviations and changes in these features. Due to these features, it is easier to grow and less costly.
• Robusta beans contain approximately two times more (2-5%) caffeine than Arabica beans. However, it is aromatically poorer than Arabica and has a higher acidity.
• It has a bitter taste due to its more acidic flavor.
• The country that produces the most Robusta in the world is Vietnam. Almost 95% of the kernels produced in Vietnam are obtained from Robusta trees.
